“The location was ideally situated for us to explore the Cotswolds.”

The cottage provided ideal accommodation and a great flat and seclided back garden. The neighbours were said to be friendly and this turned out to be the case. Parking to the side of the house was a little tight but managable. Although opposite a junior school dont be put off, this was not an inconvenience through the week with parking or noise. A good choice.

“It’s been a couple of weeks since we stayed, but I felt I had to write a few words as whilst we’ve stayed in a number of places over the years, this is probably the best.”

We couldn’t fault the cleanliness and I can’t think of anything we needed that wasn’t already there. It was great to have a log fire and we were able to pick up some more logs from the Wickes in Cheltenham (the village shop sells firefighters, but not logs). The village itself is quiet and it was a welcome change to walk back from the pub with no street lighting. Very different to life in Leeds! Parking in the space next to the cottage is tight, even for a Fiesta, but there is plenty of space to park on the road at the front. All in all, it was a fantastic week and I proposed to my girlfriend next to a roaring log fire. Will definitely look to book here again in the future. Thanks again for a fantastic stay, Kate!

Alderton is a quiet village, with a wonderful local pub, and the cottage is ideally located to make the most of the Cotswolds. Destinations such as Croome Court, Snowshill Manor and Hidcote are all a short drive away, and then after an outing, School View makes a welcoming home from home. The cottage is equipped with everything we needed, and it was spotlessly clean. We hope to return before too long! Thank you, Kate, for a delightful stay.

“The owner of the cottage went out of her way to be helpful and communicated warmly and professionally, at appropriate times.”

The location was great: quiet, close to a good pub and easy to access lots of places of interest. The cottage was impeccably clean, well laid out, well-equipped and welcoming; the garden is lovely and secluded. We would highly recommend School View for anyone wanting a holiday in the Cotswolds. We travelled to nearby Winchcombe for walks and tried the great deli Food Fanatics. To Bourton-on-the-Water, where we had a wander around the farm/nature reserve. A great trip to Great Malvern, when the sun emerged just in time for our afternoon trip up to the Herefordshire Beacon and along the ridge. And, to our surprise, the outstanding Slimbridge Wildlife and Wetland centre was just a fifty-minute drive. In summary, our stay at School View could hardly have been better.

“This cottage is brilliant, the owner has thought of everything you might need to be comfortable whilst there.”

The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. The cottage itself is in a great location for visiting nearby towns/ attractions. The driveway is small which wasn’t an issue for us, however those with larger vehicles could easily park on the road. The local pub is very welcoming and the food there was excellent.

“School View is a charming cosy cottage in a perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds, Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham and so many more places within easy reach.”

Alderton is a pretty little village with walks on your doorstep and a picture perfect English pub serving delicious food along the road. The cottage is so peaceful with the passing sound of horses hooves being the only noise. We were there during extreme heat and appreciated the shade of the trees in the larger than expected garden with its variety of fruit trees and herbs. Breakfast could be enjoyed outside on the patio area too. Inside was cool and well ventilated when the garden was too hot. We’ve never stayed in such a clean, well equipped holiday home. It really is a home from home. A comprehensive welcome guide - everything had been thought of by the owner. Mix of country and contemporary styles throughout. Large kitchen with plenty of cupboard space and excellent array of utensils, crockery etc. Cosy lounge diner with log burner. Two attractive bedrooms with plenty of hanging space, lots of hangers and a hairdryer. Good size bathroom with a shower over bath that works well with good pressure. Would return in a heartbeat.

“As previous guests have said this is one of the nicest cottages we've rented.”

It's a real home from home with a top quality kitchen, bathroom and cosy lounge, the wood burning stove was a real highlight, very easy to light (full instruction provided) and really cheered up the cold December nights! School View only provides enough logs for one brief fire, other properties we've stayed in have provided a week's supply, this would be our only very minor gripe. In summary, a great place for a relaxing break at any time of year.

“My wife and I have just spent 14 days at School View for Christmas and New Year and must say the house was very well decorated, comfortable and clean.”

It has all the amenities and more. The kitchen accommodates for every need, from a 5 ring gas cooker to a citrus press. The living room has an excellent wood fire, comfortable settee and adequate seating for meals. Bathroom and bedrooms are also of a very high standard. Large well kept garden for the summer months. The house being situated in Alderton, is a very nice and quiet Cotswold village. The location is very good for taking day trips to different towns and villages in any 40 minute driving radius. This is not just a house too stay at in summer but also in winter. Would recommend to any party of two, maximum three. Kind regards John and Petra Berlin

It was really clean and well equipped with plenty of the essentials like toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, hand wash etc. Plenty of walks from the door, so not necessary to use the car. Couldn’t fault it and hope to return.

The property

School View is a terraced cottage in the village of Alderton just outside of the Cotswolds.

It has two bedrooms, made up of a double and a four-foot double, there is also a family bathroom, the property can sleep three people.

Tewkesbury 7 miles; Evesham 8 miles; Broadway 9 miles.

The pretty village of Alderton lies on the border of the Cotswolds and the Vale of Evesham and was mentioned in the Doomsday book. It has a 16th century thatched village pub offering home cooked meals and real ales, and a village store and Post Office stocking locally sourced produce. Close by is the ancient Saxon town of Winchcombe with inns, restaurants, tea rooms and individual shops, many full of character. Once the home of Queen Katherine Parr, Sudeley Castle lies in the beautiful Cotswold Hills on the edge of Winchcombe and boasts award-winning gardens and medieval ruins, and it plays host to numerous events throughout the year. The quintessential English village of Broadway is just a short drive away and offers individual shops and boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and hotels, including the world-renowned Lygon Arms, popular for centuries and now offering spa facilities.
