    “This is the first time we have ever stayed in a holiday cottage where there was no 'Cottage Information Folder'.”

    There was no information on: recycling/rubbish dispisal; what to do with linen at the end of the stay; emergency contacts,owner, hospitals, doctors dentists etc. We had to hunt through various draws to find operating instructions for kitchen equipment, likewise for local information. This did not make us feel very welcome.

    Hello Peter, thank you for taking the time to review the property. You found no positives to write in your summery of your stay. Is that true? You are right, across all our properties for the last 10 years we have avoided offering a 'Cottage Information Folder'. We find it slightly old fashioned, and we try to be a little different down here. We like to believe that the properties are straight forward. We are on site pottering around, enjoying natters with our guests and always happy to answer any questions. Therefore, we’re saddened to read you found your experience on our farm unwelcoming. Our contact number is provided automatically with the Key code information when final payment is made. NHS 111 is now the first port of call for any non-emergency medical requirements instead of contacting local surgeries who undoubtedly are overstretched 'in this day and age’. Opposite is the communal bin store that is clearly marked for what goes where. Our lovely guests often review their time in the guest book left on the coffee table that you also managed to leave comments. Here you have an abundance of personal experiences from our guests that recommend where to visit and places to eat etc (and places to avoid) instead of being reliant on our own opinion. Thats said, there is also a selection of local visitor attraction pamphlets located in the entrance hall along with a box containing manuals for the appliances for those that need a little more direction. The Farmhouse is a beautiful property with a lovely interior, lush wrap around gardens and positioned to capture farm life at its best with views of the Chickens ‘doing their thing’ and spotting wildlife from the comfort of the sofa. UPPER SEAGRY

Malmesbury 5 Miles; Chippenham 6 miles

The small North Wiltshire village of Upper Seagry is found in superb countryside only five miles north of the bustling market town of Chippenham, and six miles from the ancient town of Malmesbury. Close to the southern end of The Cotswolds, this rural location provides a great base from which to explore this fascinating area. There are ample footpaths and bridleways nearby, a visit to Malmesbury - with its 12th century Benedictine Abbey - is a must, whilst a trip to the Cotswold Water Park is a real treat. Westobirt Arboretum, with its extensive collection of trees and shrubs is not to be missed. Within an easy drive can be found the picturesque village of Castle Combe, also well known for its car racing track, and the quaint National Trust village of Lacock, used as the setting for the BBC TV serial Cranford. The impressive Roman city of Bath, Bowood House, and the ancient stone circle at Avebury are also easily accessible. This really is an excellent base for a relaxing and interesting break at any time of the year.

Also, as a poultry farm we have been instructed by defra to keep all birds indoors from Monday until further notice and install strict bio security measures for the benefit of our birds to combat the spread of avian flu. Most likely till mid to late spring.
Our birds will not be outside during their holiday and certain areas of the farm will be restricted until further notice?
