Excellent location in a quiet village but within easy reach of Bath by Park & Ride or car. The historic George Inn is five minutes' walk away serving great food. Only two 'criticisms'. There was no sign of a 'starter pack' for the log burner. We weren't sure what this should be but on arrival we couldn't find any matches or a lighter and the cottage was chilly having not been occupied since 31 December (a small Christmas tree remained ...). We eventually found the matches buried underneath logs at the bottom of the coal scuttle on the second day. This was really down to the Property Home Service, not the owners we presume. The front door was also difficult to open on arrival as there was a month's worth of post on the mat. Probably all only an issue at this time of the year when visitors are not so frequent. Secondly, it would have been helpful to have known there was no shaver socket in the cottage - my husband only had an electric shaver with him ... Apart from that, a very enjoyable stay in a well-equipped, comfortable, cosy cottage.

Thank you for your comments which we have passed on to our housekeepers. We are very sorry to hear the cottage was a little chilly on arrival. It is constantly heated and very well insulated to keep it cosy. We have put extra heaters in each room to ensure the temperature can be boosted quickly when necessary. We are so pleased you loved Springfield Cottage and enjoyed your stay and we hope you will consider staying with us again. Owner relations

The property

Springfield Cottage is utterly gorgeous!

Typically cosy and every inch a classic Cotswolds cottage, this very charming holiday home also has the added benefit of being within a very easy drive of Bath too.

It's located on a very quiet lane (almost above it in fact...) on the edge of the village of Norton St Philip which itself is similarly outstanding and beautiful.

Inside, the property has been carefully and stylishly improved with stripped wooden floors in the living room and a warming wood burning stove, while a smart, contemporary kitchen awaits the discerning cook.

Upstairs is cool bathroom and cute bedroom which overlooks the countryside (from your bed!).

The owners, famous artists, really have added their creative touches throughout and the result is classy bolt hole for two.

We love it!

Outside , there is a private garden with a patio and bench, very peaceful and with super country views and within a few minutes you've got two classic country pubs too.

Quite heavenly....
