The Pottery

We had a great stay in July at The Pottery situated in a lovely village.

A quaint property well maintained and equipped with all we needed. A good base to see the area. I like that we were greeted by the the owners and use of the garden was ideal with shade to sit and relax after the heat of the day C&S from Lancashire

Quaint with all the modern services bit in the wilderness but no problems Phil and Clare were very helpful and friendly.

This is a lovely well equipped bijou barn conversion.

Beautifully furnished. A large comfortable bed and kitchen with thoughtful touches provided by the delightful owner. We also had access to a very pretty garden and the The Lamb village pub and community shop is within five minutes walking distance. There is no USB direct charge facility so would advise guests to bring along own 3pin usb plugs if required. Highly recommended accommodation would visit again.

The village is very pretty and there are some lovely walks nearby. The cottage is relatively small but plenty big enough for the both of us. There was a lovely, friendly Pub in the village. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

I enjoyed my stay at The Pottery.

If you visit you will find a warm welcome, a comfortable bed to snuggle into at the end of the day and lashings of hot water. I’m a solo traveller, but a couple would be equally at home here as there is ample seating and a nice size table to eat at.

We had a lovely stay at the Pottery.

Phil and Clare were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Although small, the Pottery was very comfortable for two people and our dog. There were some excellent walks available in Oakfrith Woods, only a few hundred yards from the cottage. The Lamb Inn in the village was “between chefs” so it was only serving pizzas, which were very tasty. There was also a well-stocked village shop staffed by two very friendly ladies. We would recommend this property.

We stayed at the Pottery for a few days as we were visiting family in the area.

The owners Clare and Phil were very welcoming and told us what the sights were in the area. We hope to come back again as we really enjoyed Wiltshire!

I had a fantastic stay at The Pottery.

The cottage was spotless and well stocked with everything I could possibly need. The owners were very kind and welcoming and gave great suggestions of places to go, like the bluebell woods just round the corner and the gorgeous West Woods. The Pottery is perfectly located in a quiet village, nearby to attractions like Avebury and Stonehenge, with places like Cheddar Gorge and the New Forest a little further away.

The perfect place for spending time away from the routine of daily life.

The hosts were very nice and available if needed at any time. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and cozy. Little gestures of welcome were left in the cottage on arrival, which was lovely.

Ideal tranquil location for walking & visiting further afield. The owners, Clare & Phil were very helpful & on hand if required & kindly left milk & chocolates. I had a fabulous week here and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Property very small and cramped, toilet hard to flush, bed,pillows and sofa uncomfortable, and need replacing.

No dvd player as advertised and very poor reception on radio. Owners friendly and helpful ,village beautiful, friendly, shop and pub nearby.

It's quite small but has everything needed for comfortable stay for two people and is well decorated. Owners are very friendly and helpful.

Some good walks in and around Urchfont itself and much to see close by - we visited Avebury and Caen Locks near Devizes - but there would have been much more to see if we had been able to stay longer.

It had everything I needed and was nicely decorated etc. Small but practical and cosy. Phil and Clare, the owners were delightful, friendly and helpful. I love the area and try to stay for a week every year around summer solstice time. I’ll be back to stay at The Pottery I’m sure.

Pub very close by with excellent beer and food. The property owners were very friendly and helpful .Dog walk very nearby. We loved it and would certainly stay again .

It was very comfortable and suited our needs. The location was perfect and Urchfont was a lovely village and we enjoyed exploring it.

It was just what we needed for a couple of days of peace and quiet. Lovely location, cottage was small but very comfortable and exactly what we needed for a change of scenery. Would throughly recommend for short stays.

Even though the area of Urchfont and surroundings are quite well known to me I have never come across The Pottery or its owners.

Claire and Phil made us sooo welcomed and couldn't do enough for us. We were able to host family and friends over a short periods. The only downside, was, the local pub was not operating at its full potential. However, if one wanted to eat out there are plenty of other eatery nearby. If one is looking for somewhere to chillax in quiet surrounding at a reasonable cost then, The Pottery is a must.

We had a lovely holiday in The Pottery.

It was perfect for the two of us and our dog, well equipped and very clean. Clare and Philip are great hosts and made us and the dog feel very welcome. The village of Urchfont surpassed our expectations, it’s picture postcard pretty with the duck pond, village green and many thatched cottages. There’s lots of great walks in the local area, some starting straight from the village, and Philip was very helpful in recommending his own favourites.

Cosy comfortable stay in a beautiful village.

This was a lovely cottage in rural Wiltshire.

Great base for exploring the Cotswolds and ancient historical sites. The owners were very helpful and available throughout the stay. The cottage stays nice and cool under the tree canopy and the Milky Way can be seen on a clear night. There were many little woodland creatures and even a green woodpecker, vole and wood mouse rustled in the garden. Only a couple of thoughts to make it great for dogs would perhaps be a small closing gate on the back garden to enclose little rascals like mine in so that they can’t escape to the road. I had to keep my runaway on his lead. Plus just a thought to swap the tub chair for a squishier chair. I suffer with health problems and had a bit of body pain from sitting in this chair. So a squishier chair would add more comfort to the stay. Maybe a couple more mugs too just to make it a really relaxing holiday as the mugs run out quickly so more washing up to do. I know it’s lazy but it’s a holiday! I saw an iron but didn’t find an ironing board. Perhaps a couple more glasses too tumbler style. But it was very pleasant. Very peaceful location, pretty village and very pleasant stay.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in quiet surroundings in a lovely, friendly village. The cottage was small but provided everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to sit out in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine in our private space in the garden. Meals at The Lamb were excellent and the staff were again very friendly and welcoming. It's a good base to explore this part of the country with many attractions within easy reach. Thanks again to Clare and Phillip.

I came for a spiritual holiday in a high-energy area (Wiltshire) and thats what I got - plenty of peace and quiet, and a little forest a few minutes walk away (Oakfirth Wood).

The cottage was clean, cosy & comfortable.

It fitted our needs perfectly & the owners were courteous & helpful when we saw them.

The village is really nice, and the local pub “The Lamb” had excellent beer and food. Very central for visiting the sights of Wiltshire.

We absolutely loved our stay, the hosts were fab leading up to the weekend, they happily arranged a bottle of champagne for my partners birthday and were extremely accommodating.

The barn had everything we needed inside, and a lovely touch adding some cake and milk for us. Very comfy bed, and it was so peaceful and quiet. We loved exploring the local area and finding lovely walks to take the dog on. Overall it really exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to booking again in the future!

Had a wonderful week at The Pottery, very peaceful, small but had absolutely everything you could need, bed very comfortable, was really nice to have our own seating areas outside, lovely garden, hosts very nice and the pint of milk and cherry cake a lovely thought.

There's plenty to see and do, nothing was too far to drive. Popped into The Lamb, wasn't serving food whilst we were there, but lovely atmosphere and the locals very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend a break at The Pottery.

Great village. Loved every minute of our time there

This is a beautiful cottage and very well maintained.

The owners are helpful and speak if they see you but leave you alone to enjoy your holiday in peace. Just one note to anyone with a physical disability but doesn't need a fully accessible property, the shower is very high to step in and out of, approx 10" with nothing to grab onto and the sofa is very low. This would not impact anyone without a disability so please don't think these comments are a negative. The property does not advertise itself as accessible so this is just a comment for those of you that may have difficulties with the above mentioned. A lot of tourist attractions are close by and you can be on the coast in about one hour 30 mins.

Such a lovely, clean, cosy cottage!

We were welcomed by the owner on arrival and we knew that they were always available if needed, but they left us to enjoy our holiday in peace. Although we were staying during the week of Storm Dennis, the cottage was always warm and cosy, with an extra radiator and electric fan heater available if necessary. The shower worked well - nice and clean and with ample supplies of hot water. The little kitchen had all we needed and we also could have used a washing machine in the adjoining workshop if we had so wished. We loved the beams and character of this cottage and felt totally at home and at ease from the start. The bed was very comfortable and clean, with a really snuggly duvet and soft, fluffy pillows. Outside, there is a good sized back lawn and garden, shared with the other cottage, which I imagine will be a lovely sun trap in the summer and which was perfect for walking our dog first thing in the morning. As a base for exploring Wiltshire, this was the perfect place to stay and Urchfont itself is absolutely gorgeous - all red brick and thatch, with a village pub and duck pond - idyllic! We would certainly recommend The Pottery for a relaxing and romantic holiday.

This is an excellent base for exploring a beautiful and interesting part of the country.

If you like history or archaeology, it's a wonderful area, as Stonehenge, Avebury, Silbury Hill and other ancient monuments are all within easy distance. There's also lots of fascinating industrial history nearby, including the Caen Hill Locks and the Crofton Pumping Station on the Kennet & Avon Canal, and the Great Western Railway museum in Swindon - and of course the Roman / Georgian city of Bath is always worth a visit. Plenty to do and see, whatever the weather.

The owners were delightful and could not have been more welcoming.

They greeted us warmly on our arrival, offering information on local resources and places of interest; and checked regularly during our stay to see if they could offer further assistance. There were fresh flowers on the table; milk (in a proper glass milk bottle) in the fridge; and the gift of a lovely souvenir 'Urchfont' shopping bag.

The cottage was perfect for us.

The owners were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday. We would love to return to stay at the pottery sometime in the future.

Owners very friendly and everyone we met in the village spoke to us when we went out down to pub for meals.

When we arrived the owners greeted us and showed us where they lived in the very nearby house and offered to help with any problems or queries which was nice.

The cottage style home was really quaint and pretty, the lounge part looked over the garden and the kitchen was off the lounge, so everything was easily accessible. The cooker was electric, so not the easiest to regulate but I got used to it. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the whole experience. The owners were very helpful as we took our dog Luther and they showed where local walks were. We were only around 3 miles from Devizes which we like very much, as we love the cafe near the canal, which is dog friendly. We also found The Milk Churn which is near Melksham, again dog friendly. We loved the pond in Urchfont which had lots of ducks swimming in it or walking around, very pretty. The village also has a post office and pub. We were given a reusable shopping bag with Urchfont on it, which we thought was a lovely reminder of our restful stay in Urchfont. Very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

there is only a community shop in the village which is a little pricey

Although small, this cottage is perfect for a couple and their dog - the lack of a door on the bedroom (there is a curtain) means there is no bar to your canine friend waking you up early in the morning!

Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The village is pretty with a good pub, and the local footpaths are well signed and in good order. Urchfont is a good base to explore this part of Wiltshire, visits to Lacock and Avebury are a must as well as a walk on the airy Pewsey Downs and along the canal at Devizes.

The Pottery is small, but very comfortable, we had all we could wish for.

The owners live on site and are very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our dog was well provided for, and the garden was safe although there was a small lane well to the front of the property. We all enjoyed our stay very much. Lovely Village in which to stay, and lots of great places to visit within easy reach.

Really enjoyed staying in 'The Pottery'.

Just what we hoped it would be, (a comfy rustic retreat), in a beautiful village and interesting area. Owners very helpful.

The Pottery was like a home and the owners Phillip and Clare were excellent hosts nothing too much trouble and there is a great possibility we might go there again.

Alas the weather was not the kindest, if it had been we would probably had a BBQ in the garden at the rear of the property, there were also chair in the front that we did make use of.

The Holiday was fantastic and very enjoyable the host who lived on site helped us with any enquiries about the local village.

The local village although small had everything you would ever need a shop, post office pub and very friendly people who actually talk to you Would go again the only problem was we now have two large dogs and I do not think we would all fit in have to leave the wife at home

The hosts were really friendly and made us feel very welcome despite our late arrival. I would highly recommend this cottage and we found that is has all of the amenities that one would require. Thanks for the enjoyable stay.

The cottage provided just what I needed which was a retreat from my day to day life and Claire respected my need for a reflective time in privacy.

The Pottery is a beautiful little hideaway in the exceedingly lovely village of Urchfont.

The cottage is tastefully decorated, warm and comfortable, and the owners are equally warm and obliging. We had a fabulous time and would not hesitate for a moment to re-book for another holiday.
