We are so lucky to have a vast array of wonderful shops in the Cotswolds, many independently run and...
So you’ve booked your Cotswolds accommodation and you’re ready for a great holiday in the region. Where should you go while you are here?
One great place to try on your Cotswold holiday is the Birdland Park and Gardens. This has the benefit of being nicely situated in Bourton on the Water, which as you probably know is one of the best and most popular villages in the whole of the Cotswolds.
The park and gardens are also known as the Marshmouth Nature Reserve. This should give you some idea of what to expect when you are there. It’s a charming and very attractive place, and very peaceful too – just as you would expect from this kind of attraction in the Cotswolds countryside.
They have special events on throughout the year as well, and during the months of August and September they are putting on a Bird of Prey show for all visitors to enjoy. This is a good one to see if you have children and you want to show them something they may not have seen before. These days are happening every Sunday in August, and there will also be a Bird of Prey day on the Bank Holiday Monday at the end of the month.
If you’ve booked a late UK holiday to the Cotswolds this year and you’ll be visiting after the children have gone back to school, don’t worry. You won’t miss out because you can also see the show on Sunday 5th and Sunday 12th September. Just be sure you make your visit to the Birdland Park and Gardens for one of those dates instead.
But what else can you expect to see while you are visiting this wonderful place? There are hundreds of birds to see, including the famous and much loved penguins. There is also a Discovery Zone which definitely has to be discovered!
The Marshmouth Nature Walk offers you a nice opportunity to explore more of the park and gardens while enjoying the typical Cotswolds peace and quiet. You might find it hard to believe this used to be a waste ground, because it is now a haven for all kinds of animals, wildlife, birds and butterflies. If you have children they will definitely enjoy this part of the experience because there is a lot to see and do here.
You will find the Birdland Park and Gardens just off Rissington Road in Bourton on the Water. It’s not far from the Cotswold Motoring Museum and if you are staying elsewhere in the Cotswolds you can get there via the A429.
As you can see this is a real day out experience and one that is packed with lots to see and do. It also shows you how good the Cotswolds can be as a family holiday destination in the UK. With days out like this to look forward to, where else could you go that would offer you this much fun and entertainment?
Don’t forget to see that Birds of Prey show either!
