Here in the Cotswolds, we like to live and present an earthy way of life, enjoying the simple things in a fine fashion. One such way is through our excellent range of local breweries including the Hook Norton Brewery, Wychwood and a personal favourite The Cotswold Brewing Company.

Trips and holidays to the Cotswolds should always take in a trip to a local pub (see our little suggestions below) especially as they are increasingly an endangered species! Those, however, that are left are the ones that have evolved with the times and offer something unique. Here we talk about The Cotswold Brewing Company, one of our very local companies, whose beers, ales and ciders can be sampled across the region in the pubs and who embody everything good about the Cotswolds.

The Cotswold Brewing Company

The Cotswold Brewing Company is an independent, family owned and run brewery located just outside Bourton on the Water, very much close to the heart of the region. Set up nearly nine years ago, they make specialist lagers, wheat beer and cider on draught or in bottles. Not content with their beer the team then decided to get busy with innovation and now produce five times (yes five times!) distilled Cotswold Vodka and delicious Cotswold Gin that has hints of Cotswold herbs, hedgerow plants and of course hops! As befits the natural environment surrounding us, their Cotswold beer has no additives or preservatives so while you’re having a little snifter, you can feel a little good about what you’re drinking. It is made from four natural ingredients, hops, barley, water and yeast and brewed with lots of love! (Please do take care when consuming alcohol)

The Brewery opens to the public for us for brewery tours, Tuesday to Friday at 11 am by prior appointment – call their offices on 01451 824488 to arrange a visit. Tours take about an hour and a half and you can sample the Cotswold Brewing Company's brews as well as learn how lager and ale are made and seeing the inside of a working brewery – so you can enjoy yourself while learning about one of our most cherished products. They also sell direct from their cellar – so you can stock up for your holiday! Alternatively free home delivery is available for orders according to order size and proximity to the brewery – ring for a quote!

The Cotswold Brewing Company delivers to over 200 pubs, restaurants and delis across the Cotswolds’ region with their beer, cider and spirits amongst the most popular according to customers! Here are a few of the pubs that you might like to try

1.The Swan at Swinbrook – home of the Mitfords, in a very pretty village.
2.The Priory, Tetbury – everything is sourced in a 30 mile radius embracing the local producers. Local people can bring surplus from their allotments to the kitchen door in return for vouchers!
3.The Chequers, Churchill – for a really well hung steak and a great range of beers.
4.The Highway – Burford, newly refurbished with a picturesque cellar bar and great food.
5.The Woolpack, Slad – great food in a beautiful setting.
7.The King’s Head, Bledington – sip your beer looking at the village green and watching the ducks.
8.The Kingham Plough – reknowned chef Emily Watkins never fails to delight!
9.The Grapevine, Stow – great place to sit outside and watch the world go by – lovely food.
