Think of the Cotswolds and you’ll probably think of the countryside, relaxation, and peace and quiet. And you would...
Thanks to another bout of snowy weather throughout the UK at the moment, pretty much anywhere you go is destined to see a swathe of real snow at some point.
But in the Forest of Dean you can certainly look forward to a Winter Wonderland at the moment. As of the 26th November the model village in the Forest of Dean has been transformed for the festive season, bringing excitement and festive joy to the area. If you want to book a UK weekend break in the area – perhaps to get some Christmas shopping done – you can do no better than to arrange a trip to see the model village as well.
This village is one of the best known and best loved features of the Forest of Dean. It has the advantage of being set in a woodland type setting. The characters and people you will find in the model village itself look very much at home here. It is one of those attractions that the adults always love as much as the children do, and since it has a nice cosy setting it is ideal for visiting in the run up to Christmas.
This year there will be snow at the model village regardless of whether it gets any actual snow or not. It is also ideal to visit after dark, since the houses and other buildings in the village will be illuminated to warm up the cold winter evenings. If you are getting into the early part of December and you need a reason to get into the festive spirit, you can’t do much better than to see this particular attraction in the Forest of Dean.
Other typical features of a superb Christmas will also be featured here. Mulled wine will be on offer, as will mince pies. You can also listen to some of your favourite carols being sung at the model village, completing what is a very festive theme.
The model village in the Forest of Dean is very easy to find. You will find it in the Lydney Park Estate in Lydney itself, and the post code required for those of you with sat navs is GL15 6BU. It is very close to the A48 High Street, and isn’t too far from Taurus Crafts either. With good signposting as you get closer to it you shouldn’t have too much difficulty in finding it.
The other good thing about taking a UK weekend break here (or just a day out in the area) is that the model village has some other benefits to it as well. There is a lunch area if you want to eat outside (provided the weather isn’t too bad of course) and there are inflatable rides for the children to enjoy as well. It’s clear that you can enjoy a superb time at the model village in Lydney, and at this seasonal time of year it might just be what you need to get into the mood for Christmas.
