We all look forward to that week or two during the year when we get to take a well earned break from our regular daily lives. But a week or two never seems enough, does it?

An extended holiday in the Cotswolds

It can happen sometimes that you are able to take a longer break for one reason or another. Perhaps you've worked for a long time without a holiday, maybe you need to real break from everyday life or you've been poorly and need to recuperate and get some much needed fresh air. Well, what better way to do that than on a Cotswolds Holiday?

Whatever the reason for your extended break, you’ll be glad to know that you won’t have any problems renting a cottage or holiday property for a longer period of time in the Cotswolds.

Take the wonderfully named Bobble Cottage in Bourton-on-the-Water, for example. This charming property is set in a peaceful and relaxing area – just the ticket if you need some time away to renew your energy levels!

Bourton-on-the-Water, Venice of the Cotswolds

And of course Bourton-on-the-Water is one of the most popular and well known villages in the whole of the Cotswolds. It has picture postcard scenery and you can take a stroll along the banks of the River Windrush as well. And there are plenty of other activities to keep you amused during a longer stay in this area too. The Cotswold Pottery is in this village, and it has been going for over thirty years. It’s a great opportunity to buy something completely unique to take home with you when you leave.

For a super list of places to go in the area, don't miss our super Visitor's Guide to Bourton-on-the-Water.

A cottage for long Cotswold walks

Further south near Painswick and Stroud is Lakeside Cottage, another wonderful and homey cottage, perfect for that long cottage break in the Cotswolds. This quaint cottage has exceptionally beautiful views and is finished to an extremely high standard. The cottage is located in beautiful countryside but still near several towns and villages… one worth mentioning is Bisley which is very high up and from where you are able to indulge in some nice walks that give you a great view over the valley. You won’t want to miss out on the fine fare offered by the The Stirrup Cup either, the local pub in Bisley, very popular and welcoming.

A Warm(ish) Winter Break

Let's face it, we don't have the whitest winters in this country and while this does little for the British skiing holiday market, it does mean that we're able to enjoy the outdoors without snow-boots and ski-suits and that the Cotswolds is a year-round holiday destination and definitely one to consider for an extended holiday in the winter. Imagine waking up and seeing the frost touching everything outside your cottage window. There’s nothing better than taking a bracing winter walk around the hills of the Cotswolds, before heading back for a hot bath and perhaps a hot toddy as well!

And, of course, you don’t just have Lakeside Cottage and Bobble Cottage to choose from either, we have hundreds of cottages in the Cotswolds just perfect for that extended winter stay, so why not think about doing just that this year?
