How lucky we are in the Cotswolds, to have so many fantastic dog-friendly places to go. Come and stay...
10th May 2014
Dogs for the Disabled is delighted to be the beneficiary of the Cotswold Wildlife Park’s Scruffs Dog Show on 10 May 2014. Bring the family for a fun day out and help raise money for an amazing charity.
Dog lovers can register their dogs from 10am at a cost of £2 per class with all proceeds going to the Banbury based charity which creates exceptional partnerships between people living with disability and specially trained assistance dogs.
The ‘dog show with a difference’ starts at 1.30pm and classes include Best Biscuit Catcher, Best Hurdler, Waggiest Tail, Golden Oldie, Young Handler, Best Puppy and Best in Show. There are prizes for the winner of each class (goodie bags) and rosettes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The overall winning dog’s owner will win a chance to adopt an animal as part of the Park's Animal Adoption Scheme as well as the Best in Show rosette.
Through practical assistance a dog can offer freedom and independence to children and adults with physical disabilities and children with autism. It costs nearly £3 million a year to run Dogs for the Disabled’s vital services. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations, fundraising and volunteers to continue its pioneering work.
Cotswold Wildlife Park houses one of the UK’s largest zoological collections and has some of the country’s most exciting gardens.
Normal Park admission prices apply (Adults £14, infant under three – free, 3-16 – £10, over 65 – £10).
