Property Information

Pound Cottage, located in a very quiet corner just a moment from the River Eye, is a high quality, characterful cottage that is ideal for people who enjoy high quality self catering accommodation. One of the real appealing elements of this cottage is the fact that within a short stroll you can be sitting on the edge of the river (with coffee or wine!) Naturally there are stunning walks along the river towards Upper Slaughter plus The Swells with glorious Cotswolds' countryside to take in. The cottage itself is presented in a cool and boutique style with the all important wood burning stove for those winter nights! To the rear is an enclosed, sun trap garden simply perfect for any form of outdoor dining. In our opinion this gorgeous cottage is just ideal for people looking to get into the heart of the Cotswolds and enjoy real style - all in the knowledge that you are staying in the heart of one of the Cotswolds 'most desirable villages'.  This property has wi-fi available.

Lower Slaughter is built on both banks of the River Eye, which also flows through Upper Slaughter. At the west end of the village there is an old water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power. The name 'Lower Slaughter' comes from the 'Olde English' name for a wet land 'slothre' (muddy place) upon which it lies. It is particularly known for it's unspoilt limestone cottages in the traditional Cotswold style. The stream running through the village is crossed by two small bridges and the local attraction is a converted mill with original water wheel selling craft type products and includes a cafe. The village is very convenient for Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold each within a few miles. Slightly further afield are the popular market towns of Burford and Chipping Campden but within easy driving distance. The village is as good as it gets (in our opinion!!)
