Local Information

Hay on Wye is perhaps best known for the Hay Festival of Literature which occurs each year in the Spring Bank Holiday in late May. Although the festival is clearly famous, Hay is a thoroughly delightful town all year round with a wide variety of pubs and cafes to choose from. Located on the River Wye and straddling the English and Welsh border the town is a real gem of a destination with plenty to do for all people. The town has always held an important place in the region, being on the road to Brecon, once the most important town for miles around. Because of this it has many coaching inns and pubs, the tradition of offering food and lodging to travellers continues with the cuisine being among the best on offer in Britain.

A short drive in almost every direction will take you to some stunning scenery, a host of quaint and attractive villages and some simply superb walks. Depending on the direction you take, you can easily reach the Brecon Beacons or the Wye Valley.
