Property Information

Hill Cottage, Ascott under Wychwood is absolutely everything one could imagine a Cotswold Cottage to be. A period property, packed with character (thought to be Winston Churchill's hunting lodge once upon a time), including the all important roaring fire and stylish furnishings which together create the most enchanting of English Country Cottages. The cottage is located in this delightful village which itself nestls in the Windrush Valley and is convenient for most Cotswold locations.  Additionally there are lovely walks literally from your front door. Internally, the owners have recently redecorated the cottage and created a real Cotswolds' tour-de-force with quality furnishings and fittings throughout. This is possibly one of the finest cottages in the region and one which should be seen to be believed. As you can tell, we think it is fabulous country cottage and well worth paying that little extra for!

Local Information

Ascott under Wychood is lovely little village situated within the Evenlode Valley, itself one of the main elements of the Cotswolds. The village has a long history dating back from the 12th Century with many historical signs of old castles having once been located here, although today no such evidence remains!

The village has an excellent and award winning local shop supplying fresh local produce. There was a local pub, but as of 2011 it is presently closed, with no news about it reopening. The village has a branchline and very small train station (occasional stops!) which runs from London to Hereford. The nearby station of Charlbury (5 mins by car) offers regular stops to Oxford and London. Close by are beauty spots such as Burford, Stow on the Wold, The Slaughters and Bourton-on-the-Water as well as attractions such as Blenheim Palace, making this the perfect holiday cottage from which to tour The Cotswolds.
