Local Information
Woodstock is a picturesque and vibrant market town set just 15 minutes north of Oxford and yet surrounded by beautiful rolling Cotswold countryside. The town, which is actually quite small and local, is probably most famous for its association with Blenheim Palace, the World Heritage Site and famous home to the Dukes of Malborough since the early 1700's. More recently it was the birthplace of Winston Churchill, who is also buried in Bladon, the 'next' village to Woodstock.
Woodstock, today, is a thriving town with a wide variety of shops, galleries, pub and restaurants and more than enough to keep you busy and entertained! There is also the 15th Century St Andrews Church, (visible from the apartment). There are many picture-postcard Cotswold villages, all within a short drive and many with good pubs. More recognisable spots such as Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway and Chipping Camden are within a short drive. Oxford, with its excellent tourist spots is a very easy drive.
