Marlings End, ETC 4 Star, set in the heart of Owlpen, is a classic Cotswold cottage that has recently benefitted from a new kitchen and new bathroom (Mar 08). The cottage enjoys magnificent southerly views across the Owlpen valley as well as a delightful, old cottage garden, set about with dry-stone walls. Nestling below the beech woods, Marlings End is a truly romantic setting that is the quintessence of all things Cotswold! OWLPEN has long been recognised as one of England's most romantic locations. The Tudor Manor (1450-1616) today stands in a formal garden of magnificent yews surrounded by a clutch of medieval and traditional buildings, many of which are now converted into quite exceptional Cotswold holiday cottages. The whole estate, steeped in a thousand years of history, forms its own remote and picturesque wooded valley under the edge of the Cotswold hills in the south-west of England. Fodor's guide describes Owlpen as the ultimate Cotswold hamlet. Marlings End is in a perfect position, commanding distant views over Owlpen's valley and rich woods. With three bedrooms, it can sleep five people (including children) with all the comforts of an easily-run home. Day-to-day provisions are available in Uley which is only half a mile away and has a Post Office/village shop, two pubs, a brewery and an arts centre.
