Shopping in Bath

Whether you are staying in Bath, or just visiting for the day be sure to check out the massive range of shops, boutiques and market stalls on offer. Made out of six main shopping areas Bath offers a complete shopping experience.

The Upper Town

Take a walk up from Milson Street and you will find the Upper town which is filled with hidden gems. Tucked away between the Royal Crescent and the Circus you will fing Margaret's Buildings, Saville Row and Bartlett Street which contain a great mix of irresistible boutiques, galleries and antique shops.

The Central Area

Home to all your favourite high street stores including Next, Marks and Spencer and WH Smiths the Central Area is always bustling with eager shoppers. Be sure to walk down the side streets and alleys where you will find tempting treats from jewellery to arts and crafts, confectionery to fashion and children shops. At the Guildhall Market you can buy everything from household goods and jewellery to books and local food and drink. Alternatively, stroll along Pulteney Bridge and discover a varied selection of shops including fashion, souvenirs and antiques shops.

Milsom Quarter

If you are looking for designer wear then Milsoms Quarter is for you. Looking for international names then head to Milsom Place where you can find designer pieces by Nicole Farhi, Armani and MaxMara. Most of the large fashion stores can be found on Milsom Street and New Bond Street including Hobbs, Reiss, Karen Millen, White Stuff and much more. Bath's House of Fraser store and Rossiters of Bath are among the department stores located in the Milsoms Quarter.

Artisan Quarter

The Artisan Quarter is home to a selection of smaller independent craft and antique shops. Make sure you check out the Flea Market held every Saturday for your bargains. Hunt for collectables in the treasure trove of independent shops on Walcot Street and London Street.

Southgate

Don't miss Bath's new shopping development SouthGate. Boots, New Look, Sainsbury Local, Quicksilver and H&M will be amongst the stores opening on 4th November. Phase 2 and 3 of the SouthGate development will open in 2010 and will include the opening of a 125,000 sq ft Debenhams department store.

Western Area

The Western Area hosts a great mix of local independent shops. For bargain prices and good quality local food and drink, antiques and leather goods head to the Green Park Station Market. Every Saturday morning Green Park Station Market plays host to the Bath Farmers' Market where you can buy a wide variety of fresh and local produce, including cheese, bread, meat and fish.
